Hockey: A Wood Family Tradition
From Nanaimo to the NHL, hockey has always been part of the Wood family.
Matthew Wood has played hockey before he could even remember.
“It’s cool to see, I’m not from the biggest place in the world, but anything can happen if you put your mind to it,“ Wood said, reflecting on his journey.
His parents set the foundation, introducing him to the game, and he fell right in love.
Wood’s father, Jamie, was his biggest influence after playing at Middlebury College in his heyday and then it transformed into coaching his son.
“My dad played at Middlebury, he coached division one at the University of Minnesota and the University of New Hampshire, women’s teams, he’s always been a coach and coached me growing up,” Wood said. “It’s always been in my family, I love it.”
