Each of the last two seasons, I’ve maintained that the Nashville Predators’ farm system was the best it’s ever been.

The same can’t be said this year.

While I like some of the team’s newest additions — 2024 first-round pick Egor Surin, 2024 second-round pick Teddy Stiga, offseason trade acquisition Andrew Gibson — I can’t ignore the fact that Nashville’s pipeline is significantly weaker after parting ways with top prospect Yaroslav Askarov, the No. 1 goaltending prospect in the NHL.
